Minor burn first aid treatment
For first and second degree burns, first aid treatment includes:

  • Cool the burn with cool (NOT cold) water for ten to fifteen minutes to relieve pain and a little swelling. DO NOT put ice on the burn.
  • Cover the burn loosely with sterile gauze and bandages. DO NOT use cotton or material that can stick to the burn. This protects the wound from additional injury.
